Position Overview

McNally Construction Inc. is currently seeking an entry-level engineering graduate for a Project Technician position. While working on our Irving Shipyard Project in Halifax, NS, the primary responsibility for this position is to collaborate with and support the project engineering staff. This may include engineering temporary works, AutoCAD drafting, assisting project surveyors, preparing daily and weekly reports, project changes, subcontractor management, scheduling, submittals, and materials procurement.

Location

This position is located in Halifax, NS.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze collected data to monitor production and modify as necessary to achieve maximum production
  • Plan and develop work plans for project related operations
  • Coordinate operational survey needs with survey department
  • Provide daily support and coordination with craft supervision
  • Coordinate the procurement of temporary or permanent materials as assigned by the Project Engineer
  • Coordinate and undertake planning and implementation of construction activities, as assigned by the Project Engineer or Superintendent(s).
  • Assist with environmental monitoring as needed
  • Assist in the generation of daily reports and assembly and maintenance of proper job records
  • Ensures compliance of company policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental or Construction Management disciplines considered)

  • Ability to prioritize and handle deadlines

  • Extensive Knowledge of MS Office; AutoCAD and Primavera P6 scheduling program is a plus

  • Ability to accurately read contract drawings

  • Previous internship or experience in a construction setting is a plus

  • A valid driver's license is required for this position.

  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
