Classes Offered onsite at PACC Lasalle

  • Daytime hours (Mon - Fri 8:30am – 3:30pm)
  • Evening hours (Mon- Fri 3:30pm - 10:00 pm)

The Lester B. Pearson School Board’s Continuing Education department is seeking qualified candidates for part-time teaching positions in the Culinary (Professional Cooking) program at the Pearson Adult and Career Centre (PACC). This program leads to the DEP (Diplôme d'Etudes Professionnelles) and prepares students for the entry-level job market.

The successful candidate must be able to present theoretical kitchen concepts. He/she must present and demonstrate basic practical cooking concepts using a variety of teaching methods. The teacher must supervise and guide the students under his or her responsibility through the various stages of learning. He or she must demonstrate the links between the theoretical notions learned and the practical skills required to prepare students for the job market. The candidate must not only have a thorough knowledge of the kitchen trade, but also know how to teach it to apprentices.

Qualifications

  • DEP/Post Secondary Diploma in Professional Cooking and or Food & Beverage
  • Minimum of 3000 hours of work experience in the field
  • Solid knowledge of and general experience in the trade
  • Openness to learn a new teaching profession
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience working with stagiaires and training employees is an asset

Responsibilities

  • To prepare lesson plans appropriate to the adult students concerned and the subject content
  • To pilot teaching/learning situations appropriate to the adult students concerned and the subject content
  • To evaluate adult students' progress in learning the subject content
  • To plan, organize, and supervise the class in such a way as to promote student learning
  • To place food orders
