About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Accountability Manager, Physician Services, the Accountability Analyst will support the development, implementation, operational management and continued innovation of accountability frameworks for physician remuneration. Responsive to the needs of the health system, the Accountability Analyst will be a primary support to the Physician Agreement team in the management and oversight of fee code? (typo in source) fee code performance and utilization, specifically providing support to Fee Committee for research and analytics purposes.

Primary Accountabilities

Supporting the Physician Services team in the execution of physician remuneration accountability, the Accountability Analyst supports the assessment, analysis and presentation of operational data from multiple stakeholders, as well as supporting strategic program development including Accountability Frameworks for contractual funding models, major program reviews as well as the monitoring and/or establishment of new fee codes.

Working collaboratively with operational program areas and other data/analytics supports, the Accountability Analyst is required to work with direct physician billing data as well as other health information to inform the following:

  • Remuneration and accountability analytics for more than 2700 physicians, under 9 different program funding modalities.
  • Analytics, recommendations, and data to support Treasury and Policy Board submissions, direct Ministerial queries, and business cases.
  • Research, trending and analytics to support Fee Committee on behalf of system stakeholders.
  • Program reviews, accountability framework development and monitoring.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining data requirements and collection strategies, making sure the process is accurate and respects privacy.
  • Assisting in the review of policies and programs by analyzing the data statistically.
  • Collecting of qualitative data on program performance and implementation of new accountability frameworks through actively participating in operational meetings and assisting in the day‑to‑day management of correspondence for accountability initiatives.
  • Managing a shared inbox for the purposes of communicating with front line physicians.
  • Communicating in a clear, concise, and empathetic manner, in writing and verbally, to support implementation and management of programs.
  • Aggregating and effectively presenting findings in easy‑to‑understand terms.
  • Communicating and working with subject matter experts and organizational leadership to ensure programs are data informed.
  • Working closely with health system partners – program managers and senior officials within the NSHA and the IWK to discuss analytics strategy, planning, priorities, research and monitoring and development of project initiatives that will further the agenda to build, sustain and advance a solid, integrated health analytics foundation.

As the Accountability Analyst you will work within a small data and accountability group. The successful applicant will look forward to applying their knowledge in new ways and trying new things within a fast paced, innovative and close‑knit team. Work is performed with considerable independence and initiative, subject to general review.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you hold a Bachelor’s degree plus five years’ experience in a related field such as engineering, statistics, social science, health policy, or related health field (or an acceptable equivalent) or a Master’s Degree and one‑year relative experience.

To be successful in the role you will have demonstrated knowledge of analytical methods and data visualization approaches. You are data savvy and adept at drawing knowledge from multiple sources to deliver valuable insights. You are an excellent communicator who possesses the ability to communicate complex analyses in a succinct and eloquent manner via oral presentation and in writing to broad audiences, especially front‑line physicians.

As the ideal candidate you bring a high level of analytical and organizational skills to manage numerous requests from a wide range of stakeholders. You are always thinking of different perspectives in how to approach a problem. You are intrigued by complex problems, driven to find answers and always questioning. You work well under pressure. You are innovative in your ability to assess requirements, make recommendations for improvements, and implement changes.

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Decisiveness, Strategic Orientation, Self‑Awareness and Personal Impact, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.

Working Conditions

Pay Grade: PR 13

Salary Range: $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi‑Weekly
