Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Technician, Battery Storage and Test Bay Support. Eaton's Toronto, Ontario site is dedicated to our Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) business in Canada which provides power protection, backup, and reliability solutions to ensure that critical electrical systems stay running. Our cross functional teams from Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, to Logistics Operations design and deliver turnkey solutions to ensure uninterrupted power where and when it matters most. The hourly rate for this position is $24-26 per hour per hour.
This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What You’ll Do PRIMARY FUNCTION: Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the assembly of battery storage solutions including scheduling with the operations team and ensuring that inventory is checked on a regular basis and kept up. Complete assigned jobs with assistance from the Test Bay technicians, conduct required tests and recharges using provided equipment; check and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of equipment and parts associated with the test bay, as well as UPS testing for the operations function of the Critical Power Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) business in Canada. You will provide electro-mechanical support such assembly and disassembly of electrical systems in the test bay, assist with acceptance testing,
commissioning, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems.
Essential Functions
- Fosters an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement through participation and teamwork
- Assembles battery storage solutions including scheduling with the operations team and ensuring that inventory is checked on a regular basis and kept up. Advises leadership when required product assembly cannot be met.
- Communicate and resolve schematic issues/concerns/errors with the Engineering team
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Work with supply chain to ensure factory acceptance testing is completed in a timely manner.
- Performs functionality display of equipment to customers
- Manage all service parts and equipment in the distribution center by receiving, evaluating and determining functionality.
- Refurbishment of used parts and equipment.
- Scraps non-functional parts and equipment
- Setup the equipment required for testing and perform testing of products.
- Maintenance and clean-up of the test bay portion of the distribution center.
- Determine wiring sequence, overall layout and location of components to drawing
- Setup and energizing for the purposes of battery recharge.
- Perform other duties as required
- Work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Acts and regulations, Environment, Safety, Security and Health (MESH) requirements, Eaton’s Safety Policy and Eaton’s Life Saving Rules
- Participate and contribute to continuous improvement, Eaton Lean System
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or GED from an accredited institution is required
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on electrical maintenance work
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Technician, C.Tech. designation.
- 5 years experience in mechanical assembly, power and/or control wiring
- Experience in basic testing and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable.
- Experience with warehousing, material handling and industrial truck operation
Skills Position Criteria:
- Effective communication / interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytic skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
- Mechanical skills, hands -on.
- Good attitude and work ethic.

- Risk control measures and/or personal protective equipment must be utilized for laceration, pinch point, mechanical and other safety hazards. Please refer to the workstation risk assessment for the applicable control measures that must be utilized. Moreover, equipment must be utilized for all identified electrical, mechanical, chemical and or any other safety hazards. Ie. Arc-Flash, Shock Hazards
- Environmental Conditions
Hand powered tools and other machinery may lead to excessive noise; employees must wear appropriate hearing protection as necessary

Ergonomic Stressors May Include i. Heavy and awkward parts
ii. Lifting, pushing or pulling components and parts up to 35bs individually
