Company Description:

True North Manufacturing Inc. (TNMI) is an industrialized construction company based in Midland, ON, focused on value added panelized wall and floor systems, as well as sub-assembly components for residential construction. By combining key manufacturing concepts from automotive and other industries, including the conflow process model, our products help to greatly reduce costs and lead-time while simultaneously improving quality. We are also students of the Toyota Production System (TPS) and the Toyota Way and have adapted these core strategies into our own TNMI Way.

Role Description and Responsibilities Summary: This is a full-time on-site role for a Group Leader that will lead multiple production teams / areas on the shop floor at TNMI. The Group Leader is responsible for developing Team Leaders and Team Members, maintaining stable processes, driving daily management, continuous improvement and customer service. This is considered a supervisory role. There will be a significant and ongoing focus on training & development. Specific duties will include: · Lead and coach Team Leaders and Team Members; develop people through structured routines, on-the-job coaching, and problem solving. Fill-in for absenteeism, vacations, relief breaks and other instances on line as needed. · Own daily management for assigned areas (safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale), including review of performance indicators and countermeasures. · Coordinate staffing, training plans, and skills development to support production demand & team capability growth; assist in translating company strategies into departmental activities and targets. · Support standardized work for leaders and teams; confirm adherence and improve standards through PDCA. · Support Human Development strategies, including interviewing / ongoing boarding of new Team Leaders and Team Members and performance reviews. · Drive cross-functional coordination with Engineering - Design, Production Control, Material Handling, and Quality to protect flow and customer delivery. · Lead response to abnormalities, quality issues, and safety concerns; ensure containment and root cause problem solving occurs. · Support workplace organization, and stability of the production system. · Promote and integrate TPS principles, methods, and knowledge; lead continuous improvement activities. · Maintains a professional customer service-oriented manner within the company and supports the TNMI Way. · Performs special projects as assigned and other duties as required. · Some over-time and/or weekend work may be required.

Working in production operations is part of the initial Orientation & Training process. There is a mandatory annual production operations rotation.

What We are Looking For: · Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong skills in mathematics required. Project planning skills and experience an asset. · Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams software. · Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop others in a production environment. · Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. · Sound problem solving skills and desire to succeed. Strong perseverance. · Ability and willingness to support overtime, if required.

Preferred Qualifications: · 3+ years of experience in a production / construction / manufacturing environment is an asset. · Previous experience in a supervisory / leadership role is an asset. · Experience with daily management systems, KPI routines, training methods, structured problem solving is an asset. · Familiarity with Toyota Production System (TPS) principles or similar production systems is an asset. · Forklift and/or First Aid certification is an asset.

Compensation and Benefits: · Salary Range: $77,500 - $115,772 per year. · For full-time, regular employees: o Comprehensive employer paid health & dental benefits, with a supplemental health spending account. o Annual profit-sharing program. o Paid time-off and vacation time. o Safety shoe and uniform allowances. o Lunch program.
