Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a Finance Technician to join our Finance team at our Central Office in Morinville. This role plays an important part in maintaining the financial integrity that supports quality education across the Division.
Our Finance team is a small group that works closely together. We support one another and collaborate with schools and departments across the Division. We are looking for someone who values teamwork, communicates well with others, and enjoys contributing to a positive and supportive workplace.
This 0.6 FTE position (approximately 21 hours per week) focuses primarily on accounts receivable, revenue processing, banking, and financial reconciliations, while also providing support to other finance functions as needed.
What You Bring
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–3 years of experience in a financial or accounting role
- Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and general accounting principles
- Experience preparing journal entries and completing reconciliations
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reconciliations
- Experience working in a Google Workspace environment
- Experience with financial management systems (experience with Atrieve, Rycor or similar systems is an asset)
What You Will Do
- Prepare and issue invoices for various revenue sources
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up on receivables
- Record and process incoming revenue transactions
- Prepare and record bank deposits
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Prepare journal entries
- Monthly GST remittance and revenue reconciliations
- Support year-end processes and financial documentation
- Provide backup support to other finance functions when required
- Assist with finance projects and initiatives as needed
