POSITION BACKGROUND:

The Project Manager (PM) is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects, including scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and client outcomes. This role serves as the primary owner of project execution and is responsible for coordinating internal resources, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

The Project Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy and judgment, balancing competing priorities while managing risk and maintaining strong client relationships. This role focuses on delivery ownership rather than administrative execution, with administrative and coordination support provided by Project Administrators and Project Coordinators where applicable.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Ownership & Delivery

  • Own assigned projects from initiation through closeout, with full accountability for outcomes
  • Act as the primary client contact and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Define project scope, execution strategy, and success criteria
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities
  • Approve and manage scope changes in alignment with commercial and operational requirements

Planning & Execution Management

  • Lead pre-job kickoff meetings and confirm deliverables, roles, and execution plans
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors required for execution
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and cost controls
  • Monitor progress, productivity, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Escalate significant risks, constraints, or variances in a timely manner

Team Coordination & Leadership

  • Direct and coordinate the efforts of Project Coordinators, field supervision, and third-party contractors
  • Delegate defined scopes and tasks while retaining overall accountability
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and on-the-job coaching to Project Coordinators
  • Collaborate with Senior Project Managers and departmental leadership as required

Client, Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong, professional client relationships
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, trades, vendors, and internal departments
  • Resolve execution issues and conflicts in a timely and professional manner
  • Communicate schedule impacts, scope changes, and risks proactively

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Monitor project budgets and cost performance against estimates
  • Prepare and review information required for accurate and timely invoicing
  • Review budget-to-quote alignment and document rationale for variances
  • Support financial forecasting and closeout activities

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce all safety procedures and use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ensure compliance with Ketek policies, Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and client requirements
  • Support quality assurance processes
  • Participate in post-project reviews and lessons learned activities

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Contribute to process improvements and standardization initiatives
  • Provide feedback to estimators and internal stakeholders to support accurate project planning
  • Coordinate with Training and Support Services on evolving client or site requirements
  • Represent Ketek in alignment with corporate values, vision, and mission

Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience in a related or project-based industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract
