Domtar, Howe Sound Mill is seeking to fill the position of Red Seal Certified Machinist. This job is permanent, full time, located in Port Mellon BC.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate manual machine tools (lathe, mill, horizontal boring mill, radial arm drill press, key‑seating machines) to manufacture precision parts from metal and plastic stock.
- Support preventive maintenance and repair activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures.
- Work both as part of a team and independently while maintaining an elevated level of accuracy and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification
- Ability to read, create and interpret machine drawings
- Effective communicator
- Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills for a diverse work environment
- Ability to respond effectively to changing work situations and priorities
- Commitment to creating and working in a safe and healthy workplace
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate: $48.66 (as per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement)
- Overtime is compensated per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement
- Benefits package: extended health/dental coverage and pension
