Domtar, Howe Sound Mill is seeking to fill the position of Red Seal Certified Machinist. This job is permanent, full time, located in Port Mellon BC.


Main Responsibilities

  • Operate manual machine tools (lathe, mill, horizontal boring mill, radial arm drill press, key‑seating machines) to manufacture precision parts from metal and plastic stock.
  • Support preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures.
  • Work both as part of a team and independently while maintaining an elevated level of accuracy and safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Red Seal Certification
  • Ability to read, create and interpret machine drawings
  • Effective communicator
  • Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills for a diverse work environment
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing work situations and priorities
  • Commitment to creating and working in a safe and healthy workplace

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $48.66 (as per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement)
  • Overtime is compensated per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement
