About the role

The Environmental Services Worker II transports waste materials to sorting, disposal and storage areas, transports linens, and performs basic grounds keeping. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 408 St. Michael's Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to perform specialized cleaning procedures in isolation areas. High standard of cleanliness and sanitation with strong attention to detail. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, fluent in English. Basic computer skills are a necessity. Ability to work as part of a team and also independently. Possess good time management skills, able to follow directions, work to deadlines, and have attention to detail. Capable of meeting the physical demands of the position; able to stand for long periods of time and ability to move and lift up to 75 lbs. Possess the fortitude to work in a hospital setting. Valid 6-month Criminal Records Check. Work shift hours on weekends only from 0730 – 1430 and Named Holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Previous cleaning experiences in a health care setting around floor care maintenance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. WHMIS certificate.
