Responsibilities PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for overseeing the preventative maintenance programs and upkeep of the transit assets, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability. Utilizing technical expertise and industry best practices, the role involves working to minimize downtime, maximize asset availability, and uphold stringent safety standards to support uninterrupted transit operations. As well as leading a team of technical staff in charge of planning, scheduling, and coordinating jobs, shutdowns, minor and major projects.

Key Accountabilities Executes comprehensive preventive maintenance plans & schedules, incorporating manufacturer recommendations and industry standards to optimize reliability and longevity.

Leads and coordinates maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and component replacements, collaborating closely with internal teams and external vendors to minimize downtime and maximize asset availability.

Ensures maintenance activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including safety regulations, emission standards, and maintenance guidelines, to uphold asset safety and regulatory compliance.

Leverages computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track maintenance activities, schedule work orders, and maintain accurate records of maintenance history and repairs for efficient maintenance planning and decision-making.

Assists the Senior Manager in developing business cases and work methods, determining resources, budget requirements and timelines.

Plans and schedules comprehensive training programs for maintenance staff, covering technical procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols, to enhance staff skills and ensure proficiency in maintenance practices.

Provides input to the senior manager on opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in maintenance operations, supports implementation of innovative solutions and best practices to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.

Analyzes performance data, including maintenance metrics, uptime, and failure rates, to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for optimization, informing strategic decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, capital projects, asset management and procurement, to address challenges and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives

Participates in the preparation of the operating budget, and oversees, monitors, and reports on financial performance.

Embeds planning management methodology and processes in support of delivery of high risk and complex maintenance programs. Analysis of complex data to draw conclusions and produce reports.

Manages reporting staff including selection, development, coaching, performance management and all other people management practices.

Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The requirements for this job are acquired through an Inter-Provincial Trades Certification, Technologist Diploma or completion of a Degree in Engineering, or relevant disciplines and 6 years of related experience in progressively responsible positions.

Other Requirements Knowledge and proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and technical diagnostic tools.

Solid knowledge of safety and workplace compliance regulations and legislations.

Advanced leadership, and team building skills to manage direct reports, and to provide guidance to indirect reports including solid knowledge of labour relations, dispute resolution, and related legislation in the context of people management

Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, including ability to effectively communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.

Effective change management and critical thinking skills.

Solid computer skills in standard office tools including word processing and spreadsheet software and use of web-based systems.

Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively balance and accommodate competing priorities, allocating resources efficiently, and adapting to changing operational needs to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.

A continuous improvement mindset along with a desire to continuously seek and incorporate best maintenance practices to optimize asset reliability.

Ability to adapt to working within an organization that provides 24/7 services, may be times when late or extra hours are required.

Other Information Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule 37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation Resident

This position works predominately on-site.

Rate of Pay The salary for this position ranges from $100,080 - $150,120 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
