Job Details:
Position Title: Program Coordinator. Funeral Services Education
Duration of Need: This Coordinator position is a three (3) year term beginning Fall 2025.
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness - Emergency, Funeral, Bioscience and Clinical Simulation
Campus/Location: Lakeshore campus
Program Coordinator Allowance: As per Article 14.03 A 3 of the Academic Collective Agreement, a Coordinator’s allowance will be paid in addition to the successful candidate’s salary as a Professor.
About the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness at Humber:
The Faculty houses a wide variety of programs in health, wellness, and life sciences. This includes Humber’s long-standing leadership in Funeral Services Education, preparing graduates for professional licensure and practice across Ontario. With strong connections to regulatory bodies, industry partners, and community stakeholders, the Faculty is committed to advancing education in funeral service practice, bereavement care, and transfer/preplanning services through innovative curriculum, applied learning, and interprofessional collaboration.
About the Role:
The Program Coordinator, Funeral Services Education, provides academic leadership for Humber’s Funeral Director Class 1, Funeral Director Class 2, Transfer Service Sales Representative, and Funeral Pre-Planner programs. Together, these four programs encompass Humber’s cluster of Funeral Services Education offerings.
As Program Coordinator, you will:
- Provide academic leadership to ensure quality, integrity, and innovation across the Funeral Services Education programs.
- Lead curriculum development, program mapping, review, and renewal to ensure alignment with sector needs, Humber Learning Outcomes (HLOs), and institutional goals.
- Act as the primary academic liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, students, advisory committees, regulatory bodies, and funeral service sector partners.
- Support student success and progression through advising, course navigation, and managing complex academic scenarios.
- Mentor and provide academic leadership to full-time and part-time faculty, supporting onboarding, pedagogy, and team communication.
- Contribute to the advancement of Humber’s vision for Funeral Services Education, including exploring future program pathways, continuing professional learning, and online/hybrid delivery models.
- Represent the programs at Faculty and institutional meetings, and support the Associate Dean with strategic initiatives, data collection, and academic planning.

Education:
- Full-time Professor at Humber or eligible for appointment as such.
- Licensed Funeral Director Class 1 (FD1) in Ontario, in good standing.
- Minimum of two (2) years of full-time teaching experience in postsecondary education.
Experience and Skills:

In-depth knowledge of the funeral services sector, including its professional standards, governance, and regulatory frameworks.

Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, academic coordination, and program quality assurance.

Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to guide faculty teams and build positive relationships across stakeholders.
