What the role is all about:

The Junior Accountant plays a critical role as a member of the Finance team by supporting all aspects of accounting across the entire organization. Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Accountant is responsible in supporting Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Fixed Assets and the General Ledger.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Controller in day to day accounting operations

  • Clear Account Reconciliations and conducting inventory analysis

  • Assist with mentoring other Accounting staff members and contributing to WinSport’s coaching culture as required

  • Liaise with company auditors and preparation of year end audit working papers

  • Assist with the annual operating budget process

  • Prepare month end closing entries

  • Reconciliation of credit cards and supplier statements.

  • Work as a member of a strong team, assisting and supporting other areas of accounting and WinSport as required

  • Ability to take on a variety of projects across the organization in relation to process efficiencies in Payables & Cash management

  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one’s own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers and WinSport guests

  • Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals

  • Review all OH & S notices/meeting minutes as they are distributed or posted on OH & S boards located within each department

  • Ensure safety orientation is completed with all new or returning employees covering all the required safety hazards and specific safety training for specific areas

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in accounting or related field

  • Proven ability in a computerized accounting environment

  • Experience overseeing team members

  • Strong computer, accounting software and Internet skills

  • Proactive, optimistic with a proven ability to multitask

  • Experience in updating accounting processes and procedures

  • Great Plains Software experience is an asset

Work Conditions:

Office environment, may be required to work remotely

May be required to work some weekends and evenings

Aptitude with desktop computers and other company applications

Overtime as required

Prolonged period of time working in from of a computer screen

The BWTC is located at the Canmore Nordic Centre. It was the host site of the cross-country skiing and biathlon events at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games.
