About the role

OVERVIEW

Reporting in a line capacity to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging, the incumbent, in close collaboration with ITS, is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations, quality assurance and troubleshooting of this system. The individual will be responsible for the training of staff and physicians as it relates to PACS and for the communication and information sessions on PACS technology. S/He is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the participation in new PACS and digital initiatives, as wellas providing support and backup to the RIS support. Also, the individual will act as the liaison between TEGH and the Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Repository Services (HDIRS).

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • PACS Administrator certificate or in progress. (Preferred)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. (Preferred)

  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiography training in an approved CAMRT training school or equivalent. (Preferred)

  • Current registration with CMRTO. (Preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years experience in diagnostic imaging informatics in a healthcare facility. Leadership experience in the field preferred.
  • Experience as a Medical Radiation Technologist preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of radiology information systems(preferably Cerner Radiology Information System), Picture Archiving and Communication System (preferably Agfa IMPAX), Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) and HL7.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and literacy and knowledge of the PACSnetwork design.
  • Excellent understanding of operating systems software (i.e. Microsoft Windows XP/7 and Windows 2003/8 Server) and general networking principles such as TCP/IP and routing.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word,Excel,PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Visio, Project and Cisco VPN solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management, user relations and vendor interaction.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational skills and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of adult education principles preferred
  • Ability to think creatively and conceptualize new workflow scenarios.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, independent judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Skills in critical thinking and data analysis.
  • Experience working in a team on various sized projects, with demonstrated achievement of milestones/deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under stressful conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experienced and proven skills in RFI, RFP, Business Case, and Policy and Procedures, and Service Level Agreement writing preferred.
  • Self-directed and flexible; able to make decisions appropriate to the scope of responsibility.
  • Continuous education and upgrading of technical skills and knowledge through post-graduate education, workshops and seminars
  • Good work and attendance record required.
