YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Environment Water Management Supervisor, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will be responsible for overseeing technical execution of studies and monitoring pertaining to hydrogeology, hydrology, and the water balance on site. You will continually apply technical expertise pertaining to hydrogeology and hydrology in order to ensure best management practices and compliance to established environmental standards. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Assisting with the development and overseeing of water management strategies;
  • Provide hydrogeological/hydrological expertise to the operation in order to optimize the water management strategy and ensure compliance to environmental standards;
  • Conduct studies and monitoring aimed to better understand physical and geochemical processes relating to surface and groundwater management on site;
  • Update and apply water balance and quality models to advise decision-making on site;
  • Develop and ensure proper maintenance of databases relating to groundwater monitoring, water balance tracking, and key water quality indicators on site;
  • Organize and oversee work plans for technicians;
  • Technical follow-up in the field including site, open pit, and underground tours;
  • Assist in overseeing the movement and management of water on site to ensure regulatory compliance and optimization of the water balance;
  • Work in collaboration with the Permitting group and external consultants on files and studies pertaining to permitting and regulatory processes;
  • Report writing including preparation of management plans and external reporting documents;
  • Organize, lead, and participate in water management meetings;
  • Develop and ensure adherence to sampling/monitoring procedures;
  • Apply the highest degree of health and safety on a daily basis, conforming with the company's health and safety standards;
  • Respect the commitments of the company's sustainable development policy;
  • Respect the company's code of ethics;
  • Perform all other related duties as requested by the Water Management Supervisor.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Geological Sciences, or other relevant fields;
  • 4+ years of work experience in hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources, or similar;
  • Experience with GoldSim, FEFLOW, Leapfrog and other modelling software are considered an asset;
  • Mining water management experience is considered an asset;
  • Strong ability to apply the scientific method, and think analytically and conceptually;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
