POSITION: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE, Inpatient Unit
Primary Site: St. Marys
Temporary Full-Time
(Shifts: 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, may be subject to change)
REPORTS TO: Manager, Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit - St. Marys
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $35.99 to $38.16 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Degree or diploma from a recognized and accredited College/University
-
Current Registration and Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
-
Basic Life Support certificate (BLS)
-
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate preferred
-
Education related to geriatric care preferred (ex. Gentle Persuasive Approaches)
EXPERIENCE:
-
IV drug administration
-
Insertion of Gastric tubes
-
Flushing of PRN adaptors
-
Subcutaneous portal insertion and drug administration
-
Minimum of two (2) years related nursing experience preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
-
Demonstrated ability to manage a mixed inpatient caseload including acute care, complex continuing care, rehabilitation, paediatrics and palliative
-
Demonstrated ability to work on an interdisciplinary team including community partners
-
Well-developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to plan, organize and problem solve
-
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing continuing education
-
Working knowledge of Meditech Information System and personal computer applications
-
Able to meet the physical demands of the position
