Facility Maintenance Technician - Part-time, Casual Cedarcrest Foundation is seeking a reliable, highly skilled, and autonomous Facility Maintenance Technician for its Conference Center facility in Belfountain, Ontario. You will be responsible for managing the maintenance, safety, and general physical upkeep of our facility. Reporting to the Operations Office, in this position you ensure that the facility operates efficiently, effectively, safely, and professionally in a timely way that meets with our high quality standards. What is in it for you: Competitive wages ($30.00 – $40.00/hr, paid twice per month) Vacation pay Commuter benefit and/or mileage reimbursement Health Benefits Scheduling flexibility for non-urgent project work Minimum 24 hours' notice for scheduled shifts Paid mandatory training hours (at Ontario minimum wage) Opportunity to develop your talents What you will be doing: Responsible for the general maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of the facility (minor plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting) Utilize the Cedarcrest’s maintenance and asset management mobile app to log completed tasks, track preventative maintenance schedules, report issues, and update asset conditions in real-time Maintain strict order, cleanliness, and tidiness of the workshop, storage sheds, tool lockers, and all maintenance workspaces Ensure that all tools, power equipment, and machinery are cleaned, serviced, properly stored, and maintained on a regular basis Monitor, inventory, and order supplies/materials to stock maintenance inventory appropriately and keep within budget Conducting routine proactive safety walkthroughs of the interior and exterior to identify and resolve structural wear, clutter, or mechanical issues Ensuring that all walkways, exits, and outdoor property zones are safe, organized, and clear for arriving staff, clients, and guests Manage non-urgent capital improvements or cosmetic updates on a flexible, self-coordinated schedule Serve as the on-site contact to identify when a repair requires a licensed specialist (e.g., HVAC, Electrician, Plumber) and oversee their work Respond occasionally to off-hours facility emergencies affecting building safety or operations Handle remote emergency coordination off-site by phone/text when needed (compensated at your regular hourly rate for exact time spent) Physically report to the facility for urgent on-site emergencies (compensated subject to Ontario’s 3-hour minimum reporting rule) Comply with & enforce safety regulations, hazard labeling, & building safety standards Maintain a positive & professional approach with coworkers, clients, and guests Accuracy & speed in handling emergency situations & providing solutions Familiar with facility management industry’s best practices Time management strengths with the ability to multi-task Your experience and skills include: Expert knowledge of various maintenance methods, tools, procedures, and equipment Experience in using a wide range of hand and power tools safely Comfortable using smartphone/tablet technology to navigate digital work order systems, logging updates, and tracking inventory on asset management applications Strong organizational skills with a focus on tool inventory and workshop optimization Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Understanding of building safety and proactive hazard identification Ability to withstand physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, bending, and moving around Basic knowledge of mathematics to calculate measurements for repairs and materials Ability to follow complex technical or repair instructions Previous facility maintenance, general contracting, or related trades experience (3 - 5 years) Relevant trade certifications or safety credentials (e.g., Working at Heights, basic electrical/plumbing) preferred First Aid or WHMIS certification considered an asset (or willingness to complete upon hire) Highly organized individual with ability to self-manage project timelines Reliable means of transportation to report to the Belfountain location
This is a part-time casual position, there is a requirement to work on weekends and some holidays. Please note International applications are not accepted at this time.
