We are seeking highly skilled Senior Application Specialists with extensive experience in core banking software applications across diverse environments. These roles are critical to ensuring the reliability, optimization, continuous enhancement and strategic modernization of our core banking ecosystem. They have direct responsibilities across one or the other of the following key functional areas:
- Customer and account management: customer onboarding, KYC compliance, account structures, overall customer data lifecycle, integration of customer information across all banking modules, etc.
- Deposits and savings: product configuration, interest and fee structures, servicing of savings instruments, accruals and compliance with deposit regulations, etc.
- Lending and credit management: loan origination, servicing, repayment, credit risk, compliance with lending policies and automation of credit workflows, etc.
- Payments & transfers processing (incl. ATM/POS & Cards, ACSS): domestic and international payments, ATM/POS transactions, card processing, clearing systems, transaction flows, etc.
These roles require strong functional and technical skills of core banking systems and a strategic mindset. The ideal candidate will work to:
- Stabilize and maintain the performance of mission-critical systems,
- Improve and optimize platforms and processes, and
- Define the future platform through modernization initiatives.
The ideal candidates thrive in complex, regulated environments and bring systems-level thinking to application architecture, functional integration, and continuous improvement within enterprise banking transformations for at least one of the above key functional areas. These roles will enable the launch of new digital products through scalable and resilient core platforms.
Responsibilities
- Provide application leadership in transformation initiatives, acting as a bridge between business and IT stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, working with business units, developers, vendors, and infrastructure teams.
- Collaborate with business units and analysts to gather requirements and implement system changes aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure operational stability and performance of core banking applications across platforms.
- Act as subject matter expert in day-to-day application operations, including incident resolution, monitoring, and compliance reporting.
- Lead or participate in system upgrades, patch management, data migrations, and application integrations.
- Analyze system metrics and performance to identify optimization opportunities and reduce operational risks.
- Support and execute on the roadmap for core banking modernization, including the transition toward hybrid and cloud-native solutions.
- Ensure the production and maintenance of clear technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, process flows, and best practices.
- Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 7-10 years of proven experience in managing and supporting core banking software applications within a banking or financial services environment.

Deep understanding of core banking functions, operations, technology, and best practices: customer and account management, deposits and savings, lending and credit management, payments & transfers processing (incl. ATM/POS & Cards, ACSS), and application integration.

Knowledge of core banking solutions such as Temenos, Finacle, FIS, or Jack Henry, etc.

Strong understanding of local and international banking regulations and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Proven autonomy and ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive change across both technical and business domains.

Experience contributing to core banking system replacement or modernization projects is a strong asset

Experience within complex environments: mainframe or midrange platforms (e.g., IBM z/OS, iSeries/AS400, Unix, AIX, cloud) is an asset.

Certifications in the banking sector, as well as otherssuch as COBIT, architecture, project management, or other relevant credentials are highly desirable.

Bilingualism* in French and English is required, as our stakeholders are located across Canada.

Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
