About The Department The Finance Department at Islamic Relief Canada is a dynamic and integral part of our organization, dedicated to managing and optimizing our financial resources to support our mission of providing relief and development. Job Purpose The Treasury Analyst plays a critical role in safeguarding and strengthening the Islamic Relief Canada’s financial infrastructure to support its global humanitarian operations. This role is responsible for identifying and onboarding appropriate financial institutions, designing a resilient banking architecture, and cultivating long-term banking partnerships that ensure operational continuity, financial security, and compliance across diverse operating environments.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical treasury expertise with strategic thinking, risk awareness, and relationship management capabilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Relationship Building & Long-Term Partnership Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for banking partners
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with financial institutions to ensure high service standards and responsiveness
  • Support issue resolution, escalation management, and service optimization
  • Stay informed on market developments and proactively advise leadership on banking innovations or regulatory changes
  • Foster partnerships that support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability

Banking Infrastructure & Risk Mitigation

  • Assess the organization’s banking infrastructure and further requirements, including geographic footprint, currency needs, regulatory exposure, and programmatic operations
  • Identify and evaluate financial institutions that align with the organization’s operational, compliance, and ethical requirements
  • Recommend an optimal banking structure that balances risk diversification, operational efficiency, geographic resilience, cost-effectiveness and regulatory compliance
  • Design and maintain a diversified banking model to reduce counterparty risk and concentration exposure
  • Develop contingency banking arrangements to ensure uninterrupted access to funds during crises or regional instability
  • Monitor banking risk indicators and recommend mitigation strategies, including counterparty risk analysis and currency exposure management
  • Maintain treasury policies and procedures related to bank selection, account management, and operational safeguards

Treasury & Cash Flow Operations

  • Conduct cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning to support funding decisions and cash positioning, collaborating with programs and operational teams
  • Assist with treasury reporting and management dashboards, where needed
  • Contribute to audit processes and regulatory compliance reporting
  • Develop and implement Treasury Finance policies, procedures, risk assessment and controls across operational functions

Experience Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Professional treasury qualification (e.g., CTP) an asset
  • 3–6 years of experience in treasury, banking, financial risk, or corporate finance
  • Experience working with multiple banking institutions and managing onboarding processes
  • Exposure to international or multi-currency environments preferred

Hybrid Work Policy IRC has a hybrid model where in-office requirements are based on distance from our Burlington headquarters or a regional office (Surrey, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa).
