About the role

Position: Junior Settlements Data Analyst Department: Finance & Settlements Job Type & Duration: Full-Time, Permanent Salary Range: $60,000.00–$70,000.00 Location: Toronto, ON (On-Site) Note: This is an existing position within the organization, as disclosed in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA).

In this role, you will support settlement operations, reporting, and data analysis functions critical to the business. You will work cross-functionally with the Trading, Data & IT, and Finance teams to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of settlement processes and reporting systems.

What You Will Do

Retrieve settlement data and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness. Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations related to settlements and invoicing. Ability to identify process inefficiencies and develop automated reporting, reconciliation, or data validation solutions Collaborate with the Data & IT team to automate data retrieval and reporting processes. Assist with the deployment and maintenance of production and non-production environments. Operate and maintain internal tools used for reporting and settlement activities. Verify and update transaction charge components in coordination with the Trading team. Support the development of internal reporting structures, procedures, and business requirements across departments. Conduct analytical investigations into system and operational issues and help implement practical solutions. Perform ad hoc data analysis and communicate business insights to relevant stakeholders. Identify, assess, and help mitigate financial and operational risks associated with settlements and transactions. Implement and maintain controls to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and process reliability. Monitor settlement performance trends and recommend areas for process improvement and operational efficiency.

What You Will Bring

Minimum Skills & Qualifications: University or college degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 2–3 years of experience in settlement operations, utility billing and settlements, energy markets, commodity trading support, financial reconciliation, data analysis, or a related analytical/operations role. Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and accountability. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, data reconciliation, and analysis/summarization of large datasets. Strong working knowledge of SQL for data extraction, querying, and analysis; experience with Python, VBA, Power BI, and database systems is considered an asset. Experience supporting databases, reporting systems, or IT applications is considered an asset. Understanding of financial and settlement-related principles. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new technologies and business processes. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a respectful, team-oriented environment. Demonstrated reliability, consistency, and ability to manage responsibilities independently.

Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of North American power markets, including ISO/RTO market operations, is considered an asset. Strong database development and data management skills. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data processing practices, including ETL workflows, version control tools (e.g., Git), and data integration or automation techniques; experience with cloud environments such as Azure is considered an asset.
