Overview:
For over 38 years, LAING has delivered full building envelope services—including roofing, sheet metal, waterproofing, and wall system installations—for commercial, industrial, and large-scale residential projects across Western Canada.
We’re seeking an experienced Assistant Controller
to support our accounting operations in Kelowna, BC. This part-time, 6-month contract role is ideal for a seasoned professional looking to contribute to a dynamic construction environment. The role is set at 16 hours per week over a 6-month term, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare monthly progress billings and WIP accruals
- Set up and maintain Schedule of Values and billing systems
- Generate monthly financial and project income statements
General Accounting
- Reconcile assets, inventory, loans, and prepaid expenses
- Manage GST (monthly) and PST (annual) reporting
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee electronic AP system and contract invoice processing
- Monitor and ensure timely collection of receivables
Financial Controls
- Maintain accurate records and support internal controls
- Ensure compliance with ASPE standards
Qualifications & Skills:
· 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
· Proven leadership in senior accounting roles
· CPA designation or equivalent training
· Degree in accounting or finance
· Strong knowledge of tax regulations and ASPE
· Proficient in accounting software and systems
Compensation and Benefits:

Salary:
$80,000 - $90,000 per annum at a pro-rated rate, dependent on experience and qualifications.
