About the role
The Thames Valley Family Health Team (TVFHT) is one of the largest Family Health Teams in Ontario. The Thames Valley Family Health Team is committed to providing comprehensive, collaborative primary health care to over 162,000 patients.
This role is a unique opportunity to shape the academic leadership for one of Ontario’s most successful interprofessional primary care teams. The Academic Lead will play an integral role collaborating closely with clinical and academic teams and Universities to ensure excellence in teaching residents, through maintaining academic standards and mentoring IHP educators. This role will assist TVFHT in achieving its academic mandate. This position will primarily serve the Elgin, Middlesex, London, and Oxford communities , with deliberate attention to Provincial scope and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Master's degree required, Doctoral an asset.
- Regulated heath professional in good standing with respective regulated health professional college
- Previous academic experience within a university setting or primary care teaching site
- Strong foundation in academic family medicine A formal relationship with Western University, such as an academic appointment from the Department of Family Medicine or willingness to obtain
- Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal
- Level of comfort or willingness to become familiar with virtual meeting technology
- Must have access to reliable transportation as travel between sites is required
Duties & Responsibilities
- Clarifying and growing TVFHTs academic mission and strategic direction with a focus on innovation, and interprofessional collaboration.
- Building and strengthening partnerships with Western Faculty Support Department to foster professional growth in academic settings
- Collaborate with Western University to support academic teaching goals/expectations and pathways for multidisciplinary team members at teaching sites. This includes centre-based education, participation in team meetings, resident teaching and mentoring/contributions to academic half day sessions
- Supporting Family Medicine residents and IHP learners through coordinated orientation, teaching, and research engagement
- Promoting scholarly activity, including resident and team-based research, including collaborating with Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (UWO)
- Support the growth and development of interprofessional healthcare providers in their roles as educators through development of objectives, innovative strategies and structured outlines for teaching responsibilities
- Foster a learning environment for residents about team-based care, in collaboration with IHP teachers
- Promote and facilitate scholarly activity across the organization, including quality improvement, practice-based research, and knowledge translation.
- Participate in relevant academic committees.
- Experience engaging with community partners or system-level academic initiatives.
- Representing TVFHT at the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario, Health Professional Educators Group (HPEG)/Academic FHT channels
Hourly Rate: $97,580 - $119,000
