Role

The Radio-Canada Productions division in Montreal is seeking a Senior Director, Operations, who will lead a team of managers, supervisors and unionized employees to provide production services to programming partners, meet divisional goals and, ultimately, deliver high-quality content to Canadians.

You will oversee all technical operations and strategic planning. This includes cultivating strong business relationships with internal and external partners, suppliers and content teams, as well as negotiating and finalizing agreements and partnerships on behalf of Radio-Canada. The successful candidate must manage budgets effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of human, physical and financial resources.

You will work with your immediate supervisor and direct reports on strategies, improvement plans and transformation plans, and will be asked to collaborate on senior management projects/initiatives. You will also provide project leadership and contribute directly to the division’s strategic repositioning.

Key Responsibilities

Set annual objectives and priorities for the areas under your responsibility, implementing strategies that align with corporate strategic objectives. Develop an action plan with your direct reports for achieving objectives, ensuring that operational priorities are set, communicated and executed by teams. Oversee technical operations and maximize the efficiency of all human, financial and physical resources under your purview. Guide and coach staff reporting to you in order to unite them behind common goals using an effective, efficient and people-centric leadership style. Be responsible for optimizing talent and resources, monitoring the performance dialogue process and developing talent in your department, with a focus on adopting effective, tailor-made talent acquisition strategies for the Productions division while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners, colleagues and talent providers. Establish a clear vision and execute action plans while aligning resource planning with long-term operational goals to deliver high-quality operational support and production services. Provide strong, engaging leadership during a period of cultural change, bridging the gap between day-to-day operational needs and strategic innovation and transformation priorities. Act as the face of the Productions division to actively promote EDI, change management and employee engagement strategies. Partner closely with the Technology & Infrastructure division to optimize facility maintenance. Perform any other duties or assignments designated by management.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

What You Bring

University degree, ideally in a media-related field; other equivalent training in an appropriate field may be considered. Over ten (10) years’ experience in a similar role in production and/or TV operations, including five (5) in a supervisory role. Proven track record in financial and technical resource management. Demonstrated success leading teams and cultivating a positive, collaborative work culture. Advanced knowledge of technical production and/or production infrastructure. Wide-ranging knowledge of production methods, technical equipment, operational workflows and production trades a definite asset. Strong interest in and awareness of emerging trends and technologies reshaping the media landscape. Outstanding communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain business relationships. Influential leadership and ability to motivate participatory collaboration. Ability to identify strategic issues, implement action plans and anticipate innovative, effective solutions. Highly adaptable to change and resilient when managing tight deadlines under pressure. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities. English/French bilingualism (spoken and written) a significant asset. Flexibility to work occasional irregular hours or be present during special events as required.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next
