About the role
What You Can Expect :
- Lead and manage Project Logistics operations teams across Halifax, Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, ensuring consistent service delivery and performance standards.
- Actively participate in client meetings to understand project requirements and provide operational input throughout planning and execution phases.
- Develop and support proposals, RFP responses, tenders, budgets, schedules, and execution plans for project cargo movements.
- Plan, track, and control project execution, monitoring timelines, quality, labor hours, budgets, and costs using appropriate scheduling and control tools.
- Ensure clear, timely communication of project status, milestones, and risks to clients, operations teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Deliver projects in line with client expectations while maintaining cost control, quality, and safety standards.
- Proactively manage scope changes, assess impacts, and implement mitigation or contingency plans as required.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization, documenting procedures and best practices across locations.
- Monitor customer bid platforms and market activity to identify upcoming project opportunities and support commercial teams.
- Maintain and enhance the project logistics vendor database, including qualifying new suppliers and updating vendor contact information.
- Research upcoming projects and collaborate with inside sales on pricing, feasibility, and operational input for proposals.
- Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings to support relationship building and market visibility.
- Serve as the escalation point for operational or service issues, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Complete month-end operational reviews and support sales and budget analysis related to project activities.
- Support projects outside standard business hours when required to ensure successful execution.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience managing out-of-gauge (OOG), breakbulk, and project cargo operations, with a strong track record of successful execution.
- 5–10 years of progressive management experience within freight forwarding, project logistics, or heavy-lift transportation environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading multi-location or cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of project logistics workflows, including planning, routing, equipment selection, and risk management.
- Experience supporting or leading client-facing activities such as proposals, tenders, and operational planning discussions.
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, budgeting, and margin considerations for complex projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proactive, open-minded, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Comfortable working independently and making informed operational decisions when required.
- Willingness to work outside standard business hours and travel as needed to support project execution.
