About the Role
Element is embarking on a Technology Modernization Journey, beginning with the transformation of the Billing System. As Lead, Applications, you will play a hands-on, technology-focused leadership role, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) directly supporting both project execution and steady-state operations. You will work closely with project implementation teams and vendor partners to ensure the successful design, delivery, and operationalization of modernization initiatives. Support and own key enterprise application modules that enable core business functions such as Billing, Asset Management, Maintenance, Pricing & Enrollment, and Syndication.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to Element’s mainframe modernization initiatives in a SME capacity and lead a workstream to ensuring technical solutions are aligned with business goals and implemented effectively
- Work closely with vendor development teams in the day-to-day project activities to closely track the work and deliverables and highlight to manager for any potential risks/gaps in solution or timelines
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for continuous improvement activities, enhancement requests, and project initiatives throughout their lifecycle from initiation to completion
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
- Provide high-level and low-level effort estimates for project scope and timelines.
- Oversee development, testing, and deployment of approved solutions, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
- Manage day-to-day incidents, service requests (RITMs), and overall application performance and availability.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for application incidents and document findings to prevent recurrence.
- Drive process improvements and identify automation or workflow enhancement opportunities to increase operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred experience in Fleet management or accounting applications.
- At least 3+ years of proven experience in leading large, cross-functional & cross-platform technical teams.
- Hands-on proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Sprint Batch, Spring Cloud) and front-end frameworks (Angular, Backbone.js, jQuery, JavaScript).
- Understanding of software development life cycles (Agile/Scrum, waterfall, ITIL).
- Working knowledge of cloud technologies and web-based systems, with a strong interest in pursuing advancements in this area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: College/University degree preferred.
- Certifications on AWS / other cloud technologies
- Prior modernization implementation experience
- Experience with Node.js or Next.js is preferred, as these skills align with Element’s ongoing modernization and full-stack development strategy.
- Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence, and change data capture (CDC) and data replication tools (TCVision).
Current Location: Mississauga. Our Mississauga office will move to 1 Adelaide in Toronto in September 2026
The hiring base salary range for this position is $99,200 to $136,400 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
