  • Deep knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including relevant Building Codes (OBC, BCBC, IBC, etc), NFPA standards, CSA standards, ASHRAE standards, ULC, etc.
  • Develop budgets, proposals, schedules, project and staffing plans as well as identify, qualify, and pursue potential clients and project opportunities. The ideal candidate would also have experience working with building or facilities designs in the United States or in Europe.
  • Fluency in design and modeling software that includes Revit (must have), BIM, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, HydraCAD (optional), and Navisworks. Experience with Bentley software (Microstation, Bentley 3D) would be an asset.
  • Travel to project sites for fire protection site surveys, data collection for fire protection studies, and collaboration with client team members throughout Canada with an emphasis on supporting projects in the Western half of Canada.
  • Skilled in designing fire protection systems for various building types with experience in heavy industrial, commercial, manufacturing/automotive, and processing facilities (eg: water and wastewater treatment sites, EV assembly plants, lithium-ion battery plants, and data centers/mission critical facilities, transportation/transit maintenance facilities, etc).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Canadian citizenship is required for this position as part of the need to be eligible for highly sensitive projects requiring security clearance.
  • Professional Engineer (licensed) with at least 10-15 years of experience in consulting engineering and performing facility design. A minimum requirement of 5 years or Canadian design experience must be met.
  • Fire Protection Professional Engineering Licensure in the United States is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of HydraCALC
  • Knowledge or experience working with FM Global and other commercial insurance regulatory bodies would be an asset.
  • Ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure on various tasks
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
