Description About Us The Engineering Student Recruitment & Outreach Office (ESROO) promotes interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and is the first point of contact for students and their families interested in pursuing an education at Canada’s top engineering school and one of the best in the world. Our team designs and delivers innovative pre-university outreach programs offered by the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering (FASE) and builds awareness of the different areas of engineering and the roles they play in society. The dynamic team shares information on the faculty’s world-leading programs with students around the globe, supports prospective students and their families throughout the application and admissions cycle, and facilitates a smooth and successful transition into the Engineering program.

Your Opportunity Reporting to the Associate Registrar and Director, Engineering Student Recruitment & Outreach, and working closely and collaboratively with members of the Faculty’s senior management team, the Associate Director, Engineering Student Recruitment & Outreach (ESROO), plays a key role in managing day-to-day operations and ensuring recruitment and outreach initiatives align with the Faculty’s strategic priorities. The role manages a high-performing team, manages budgets, and ensures efficient use of resources.

The Associate Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing recruitment and outreach programs. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing recruitment and outreach plans, cultivating internal and external partnerships, delivering presentations, and collaborating on marketing and communication to ensure outreach and recruitment priorities are accurately represented. The position conducts data analysis to inform strategies, prepares statistical reports, advises prospective students, parents, school counsellors, and other internal and external partners. The Associate Director also establishes best practices for operational workflows and exercises full managerial authority over staff to ensure successful delivery of initiatives.

Qualifications Education: University degree required, preferably in education, business/administration, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in university student recruitment and/or outreach programming, including experience managing budgets and allocating operational resources.

Thorough and extensive knowledge of the educational system at all levels, with knowledge of strategic enrolment management principles.

Strong understanding and knowledge of the higher education landscape, especially undergraduate study; and experience translating this knowledge into effective marketing and outreach plans.

Experience in public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and representing an institution to diverse internal and external audiences.

Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including supervising, training, and leading a team of experts, preferably in a unionized environment.

Proven experience contributing to or developing operational and tactical plans that support student outreach or recruitment and enrolment goals.

Experience building productive, collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders, internal and external.

Skills Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities with a demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive, collaborative, and high‑performing work environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client service excellence, public speaking, and the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Advanced ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data to inform decision‑making, operational planning, and reporting.

Proven ability to assess complex issues, facilitate solutions, and guide teams through operational challenges with sound judgment and clear communication.

Strong organizational, planning, and time‑management skills, with the ability to set priorities, manage competing deadlines, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to understand and analyze complex operational or technical processes and implement effective, practical solutions.

Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and navigate challenging situations with tact and professionalism.

Others Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of equity in the workplace and an ability to work effectively with all constituents in a highly diverse community.

Current advanced knowledge of best practices in post-secondary recruitment and outreach.

Tact, diplomacy and proven professionalism relating to working collaboratively.
