**Job Location:**Coquitlam, BC
Salary Range:$52,000-$58,000/year
**Job Overview:**The Financial Analyst supports the finance team across month end close, reconciliation preparation, reporting, KPI tracking, and ad hoc analysis. Working closely with the Finance Manager / Controller and wider finance team, the incumbent will help maintain reporting schedules, support board pack preparation, update job code and performance reports, and provide backup coverage across selected finance processes.
This role is intended for an early career finance professional who wants to build strong commercial accounting experience while developing analytical capability in a growing operating business. The role provides broad exposure across finance and is designed to grow in responsibility over time. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, sound Excel capability, and the confidence to work across both accounting support and financial analysis.
**Reporting Structure:**The Financial Analyst reports directly to the Accounting Manager / Controller.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations as assigned by the Finance Manager / Controller;
- Assist with month end close processes and ensure assigned working papers are completed accurately and on time;
- Maintain standard monthly reporting files, including board pack support schedules, KPI trackers, and rolling cash flow input schedules;
- Update job code reports and assist with variance follow up and coordination with operations where required;
- Compile board pack support schedules and KPI tracking reports as directed;
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, reporting requests, and special projects;
- Support the maintenance of central finance templates, process notes, and working paper documentation;
- Serve as trained backup for selected tasks within billing, accounts payable, or financial accounting processes as determined by the finance continuity plan;
- Participate in cross training, across finance, to support continuity, resilience, and broader process understanding;
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve reporting consistency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen finance processes;
- Support audit requests, reconciliations, and internal reporting requirements as required;
- Other duties as required.
Skills Required:
- Strong analytical ability with a willingness to work across both accounting support and reporting;
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to work professionally with internal stakeholders;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in reconciliations, reporting schedules, and data handling;
- Strong Excel capability and good general systems aptitude;
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the wider finance team;
- Curiosity, initiative, and a genuine desire to build commercial finance experience in a hands on business environment;
- Confidence in identifying process gaps and helping improve reporting and finance procedures as the business grows.
Education & Experience:
- Post secondary education in accounting, finance, commerce, business administration, or a related discipline;
- 0 to 2 years of relevant experience, including co-op, internship, or entry level accounting or finance experience;
- Strong interest in building a career in accounting, finance, or financial analysis;
- Experience working with Excel and structured reporting files is required;
- Experience working with ERP systems would be considered an asset; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience would be considered an asset;
- Experience in a service based, multi site, or operationally driven business environment would be considered an asset;
- Interest in pursuing a professional accounting designation would be considered an asset;
- Acceptable security and criminal record check.
