The Project Coordinator reports directly to the Operations Manager, and supports operational excellence by facilitating projects in a safe and efficient manner. This includes the coordination of assigned projects throughout their life cycle to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely completion of all work and deliverables within cost, quality and schedule targets.
POSITION DETAILS
The Project Coordinator position is a full-time position based out of Calgary, AB. The position includes both office-based, and field-based work. The successful candidate must live within commuting distance of the Calgary, AB office. The position pays hourly, and the rate will be dependent on experience, skill level, and tenure. Overtime will be required, with an expected average of 50hrs/week. Overtime in excess of 50hrs/week must be approved by a manager.
OVERALL GOALS FOR POSITION

Assist the Operations Manager with the safe, reliable, and timely coordination and execution of all projects to provide clients with the highest quality of work.

Build strong relationships with local and on-site clients.

Continually improve operational efficiency and project control systems. Expand skill set through training and professional development initiatives.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Leadership
-
Assist in developing and motivating staff, lead as a team player, mentor and role model.
-
Lead as a safety champion, team player, mentor, and role model. Monitor and evaluate the performance of employees, conduct performance reviews with direct reports as required.
Operations & Logistics
-
Manage the efficient allocation of crews and equipment to job sites; maintain a projected schedule of crews and rigs/equipment on each job and update as required.

Coordinate appropriate rig selection and any special equipment requirements for jobs; conduct field visits as required to assess site access and other job requirements.

Responsible for synthesizing information from client provided project documents into standardized project documents for field crews (project info sheets and job forms)

Ensure crews have valid site orientation and health & safety documentation required to access each job site; submit documents prior to crew’s arrival onsite. Along with ongoing management of safety documents to meet site standard and pre job assessments.

Assist field crews with job preparation including sub-contractor coordination and management, mobilization efforts, and project kick-off

Commercial driving in support of field operations and mobilizations, including delivering equipment to site and operating hydrovac truck

Provide solutions, and ongoing technical & logistical support to field staff

Provide on the job training for field crews, monitor competencies & training progression in the field

Maintain a minimum level of participation when on routine time off by calling into weekly update meetings and critical project meetings

Assist the Operations Manager with field summary review and project tracking Assist the Operations Manager with project planning and quotations
Safety
Respond and manage incidents. On site presence should be maintained whenever possible while crews are actively working on site. At a minimum, PC must be able to respond to an incident on their site, or designate a delegate
Client Relations

Liaise with clients to determine scope and objectives of projects and communicate these to field staff.

Deliver project scope in accordance with the client’s and company’s goals, expectations, and procedures.

Interface with clients on a regular basis to provide them with project updates.

Provide solutions and ongoing technical support to clients. Report safety concerns or incidents to client immediately as per applicable procedures.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience Requirements

10+ years drilling experience, including field work, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership is required OR
-
5+ years drilling experience with Mud Bay Drilling or the ConeTec Group of Companies Commercial Driver’s license and clean driving record
Technical Skill Requirements

Must be proficient in basic computer skills and programs including Microsoft Office

Must be proficient in the use of smartphones, email, and mobile communications

Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to conduct meetings and presentations, written reports, and training materials Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs., climbing, crawling as well as walking on uneven ground, working long hours in all weather conditions.
