About the role

School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) invites applications for a 0.5000 FTE Temporary position for a Classroom Teacher at Galiano Community School on Galiano Island, B.C., located between Vancouver and Victoria in the Strait of Georgia. The school enrolls approximately 50 students and seeks an energetic, creative, and enthusiastic teacher for grades 5-7. The effective date is immediate until June 30, 2026. The starting annual salary for this 0.5000 position ranges from $34,008 to $54,760, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. Necessary Qualifications Documented evidence of:

  • Exemplary teaching qualifications and current experience as an Intermediate teacher
  • Current and solid knowledge of the Intermediate curriculum
  • Experience teaching intermediate students, including those working at an emergent literacy/numeracy level
  • Ability to deliver interdisciplinary/thematic programs
  • Current experience in positive behaviour support
  • Effective use of formative and summative assessment to support student learning
  • Successful experience implementing programs and CBIEPs for students with complex learning needs
  • Team-teaching experience in a multi-age learning environment, leading students in activities that promote their physical, mental and social development
  • Experience in personalizing learning and working in inclusive environments, supporting learning for all students
  • Successful experience using appropriate technology to support learning
