About Highland Valley Copper Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Role Overview Reporting to the Central Asset Management (cAM) team, the MLE Project Controls Analyst is responsible for supervising cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting for the Major Life Extension (MLE) Equipment Program at Highland Valley Copper (HVC). The role ensures accurate tracking of project costs, supports month-end financial coordination, and drives accountability through variance analysis and change management.

Working closely with Project Leads, Finance, Procurement, and Site teams, the analyst provides clear, consolidated reporting to enable effective decision-making and maintain alignment with the approved MLE Equipment budget. The ideal candidate is analytical, meticulous, and collaborative, with a strong foundation in project cost management and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Accountable for the project management of a portfolio of asset rebuild projects and ensuring that these projects have an appropriate execution plan
  • Lead the development of a Project Charter for each project or phase
  • Be responsible for the development of management plans for scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety
  • Take ownership of the project scope, ensuring it reflects the needs of the site and supports successful delivery.
  • Partner with the Project Engineer to handle the project budget — preparing appropriation requisitions and documentation to secure project funding, or supporting the site team in doing so
  • Lead the overall project schedule (Level 1) and collaborate with the team to develop and maintain detailed execution and construction plans
  • Champion quality by owning the project quality control plan and ensuring all work aligns with approved scope and standards
  • Nurture a culture of safety by co-developing the project safety plan with site and contractor safety leads, and ensuring the project team meets all requirements outlined in the plan
  • Steward each project toward its objectives, developed in collaboration with project partners from site, corporate, and contractors
  • Lead periodic project stakeholder meetings, prepare and issues regular project updates/reports and review & authorize scope changes
  • Maintain a regular presence at the project site(s), as well as visits to vendor facilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) with APEGA and EGBC is required
  • Must have experience working in a large industrial environment – mining, oil and gas, or manufacturing
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial project management or mine maintenance
  • Experience with mobile mining equipment is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 or equivalent driver’s license is required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
  • Ability to travel within North America will be required

Pay Range The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity. Working Conditions

  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
