The mission of the Staff Software Engineer at Cozey

As Staff Software Engineer reporting to Manager, Software Engineering (WMS), your mission is to design and build the systems that power the post purchase journey of the product creating a seamless client experience. You’ll create scalable, in-house solutions that replace third-party tools, ensuring speed, accuracy, and innovation at every step. By owning projects from idea to deployment, you’ll help redefine how customers receive furniture with ease.

What you'll be doing

• Architect and build scalable features for the Cozey Operating System (COS), including in-house platforms that replace third-party tools, and AI-driven agents that automate warehouse workflows for greater efficiency, control, and long-term impact.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, product, and design teams to deeply understand pain points and rapidly deliver high-impact solutions.
• Own projects end-to-end, from technical design and architectural decisions to hands-on implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement.
• Drive architectural decisions that balance short-term priorities with long-term scalability and vision.
• Mentor and support engineers in the team, raise the technical bar, and advocate for pragmatic engineering best practices that enable high-velocity and high-quality shipping.
• Collaborate closely with operations and product teams to identify pain points and rapidly ship impactful solutions

We'd love to hear from you if you have

• Proven experience designing and scaling web applications, with an emphasis on intuitive end-user experiences and long-term maintainability.
• Able to think holistically about systems, with the ability to confidently evaluate trade-offs and make sound technical decisions.
• Extensive experience in strongly typed, object-oriented or TypeScript-like languages
• Clear and effective communicator, capable of collaborating across both technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong believer in testing culture – prioritizes unit and end-to-end testing
• Deep appreciation for clean code, code reviews, and documentation
• Have a pragmatic mindset — able to balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability, while managing technical debt thoughtfully.
