Job Summary Reporting to the Manager of Community & Neighbourhood Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for initiating and maintaining positive and effective relationships with community organizations and internal departments to support the successful implementation policies and initiatives that keep Mississauga residents active, healthy and connected to their communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the administration of the Community Group Registry Program including review of new and annual renewal applications and maintaining online and other administrative systems
  • Provide support for the administration of the City’s Culture and Community Grants Programs and funding opportunities. Provide guidance to community groups to access support available from the City including the Community Group Registry Program and Culture and Community Grants Programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with community groups, support community organizations to access information and services from the City and facilitate compliance with city processes and requirements
  • Provide timely and effective customer service
  • Implement problem-solving skills to resolve issues as required
  • Attend and provide on-site support as required
  • Develop and maintain communication and resource materials
  • Provide support for community outreach, engagement and capacity building activities including coordination of network meetings and learning opportunities and attending community events
  • Provide project leadership and implementation support in relation to team, divisional and City priorities as required
  • Use and maintain project management tools including work plans and share point sites
  • Provide support for research and reporting activities (e.g. benchmarking, surveys, data analysis, tracking of key performance indicators)

Skills And Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in the field of community development, arts & culture, recreation or related field along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Specialized training in areas including non-profit governance, project management, and community engagement is an asset
  • Knowledge of and experience with working with local agencies, community groups, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to establish effective working relationships with co-workers and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong administration, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment and interest in broadening your experience is desired.
  • Occasional irregular hours of work to accommodate work with community stakeholders. On occasion be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires flexibility of work locations including the ability to work effectively from home and other locations across the city (e.g. community centres, parks) in all weather conditions
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office. Experience with City Software such as Active Net, SharePoint, Survey Monkey Apply and social media is an asset.
  • Current CPR, First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain within the first 3 months of start date)

Hourly Rate/Salary: 37.96 - 50.61(Equivalent to salary $69,080 - $92,107)

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Work Location: Civic Centre
