About the role

We have an immediate opening for a Patient Liaison (casual, part time). This position is available in Calgary, AB.

How we plan on keeping you busy:

Patient Education

  • Providence (internal) first point of contact to the family/patient

  • Explaining the process, procedures, goals & associated paperwork to the patient & families

Communication Hub

  • Facilitating the communication between patients, trial investigators & other healthcare providers

  • Internal first point of contact for all parties when requiring information

Patient Support

  • Provide information, when needed, regarding ways to navigate health system and support during the process

Administrative Support

  • Helping review and complete paperwork, scheduling, and other logistical aspects of the patients involvement in the study

  • Internal administrative resources to our Scientific team during the trials

Other duties as assigned.

What will help you get here:

  • Post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in one of the following programs:
    • Medical Office Administration/Medical Receptionist
    • Nursing from an accredited program – if nursing license must be current and unrestricted as a Registered Nurse (RN) or License Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of direct patient care experience in clinical, hospital or healthcare setting
  • Prior experience in a patient-facing support role (patient services, case management, etc.) is an asset.
  • Strong clinical knowledge with the ability to communicate medical information in a patient-friendly way.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build rapport with patients, families, and care teams.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive or emotional situations with empathy, tact, and professionalism
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple patient cases and administrative tasks.
  • Computer proficiency, including use of EMRs, scheduling systems, and MS Office Suite.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach with genuine care for patient well-being.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work seamlessly with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient rights, and privacy legislation (e.g., HIPAA/PHIPA).
  • Bilingual or multilingual ability may be considered an asset, depending on patient population.

Working Conditions

  • Works in an office-based environment using technology for extended periods of time
  • Is expected to coordinate and communicate regularly with internal and external parties
