Summary

We are recruiting for a Technical Project Coordinator with a focus on Engine & Compression (E&C) and Reliability solutions within our Systems, Software & Solutions team, based in Calgary. Spartan’s E&C solutions lead the industry in terms of emissions reduction and sustainability, and our Reliability solutions are a game-changer, helping our customers get the most out of their assets and avoid costly downtime.

Our ideal candidate would be a 4+ year Technologist (C.E.T.) or Engineer/E.I.T with projects and field startup experience looking to get into a projects execution role

You will become an industry expert in providing solutions in:

    • Programmable Logical Controllers (PLC): REMVue and Sixnet RTU (Isagraf), DeltaV, Allen-Bradley (RS500/5000 & Studio5000), Schneider Proface HMI (GP-ProEX) and PanelView HMI (FT View Studio)
    • Altronic Shutdown & Control Systems
    • Ignition systems and their components
    • Air Fuel Ratio controllers

The successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously, in both E&C and Reliability. The Technical Project Coordinator will work with technical experts, our automation programming experts, field service, the project team and lifecycle services team, providing leadership, support, knowledge, and experience to execute and deliver solutions to our customers.

This role allows the incumbent the challenge of providing engineered/manufactured products and solutions for a very fast-paced industry. Reporting to the Operations Manager – Machinery Performance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of engineering design, configuration, integration, procurement, manufacturing, commissioning, and start-up services.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Managing scope, cost, schedule, quality, functionality, and customer expectations
  • Produce schedules, financial reports and other Project Management related documentation as required by customers
  • Drive the lifecycle of a project from sales handoff to delivery of a quality solution, delivered to the Customer on time and on budget by:
    • Work with the sales team to scope projects.
    • Setup projects, manage project changes, schedule fabrication and configuration, material delivery, and invoicing milestones
    • Interfacing with Spartan’s manufacturing shop, the configuration, and the engineering team.
    • Field Execution coordination with the Field Service team.
    • Influencing project stakeholders to produce results in the Customer’s best interest
  • Set a project lifecycle schedule and have the ability to quickly change pace and re-evaluate course of action to complete steps throughout a project while meeting customer’s expected delivery timeline
  • Maintaining accurate project financial reporting including forecasting of expected costs, identifying reasons for cost differentials from project bid to execution to completion
  • Tactful communication skills to represent Spartan’s “Customer First” philosophy while managing project budget, schedule, and project changes
  • Manage project documentation – kept on file and sent to customer, as required
  • Collaborate effectively with Customers Spartan Business Unit Managers, Operations Managers, Inside and Outside Sales, Account and Territory Managers, and the execution team to deliver outstanding project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to set weekly priorities for the engineering design/execution team
  • Participate in our 7/24 on call rotation
  • Schedule and coordinate Project Execution, Delivery, Deployment, On-Site start-up and commissioning services for our E&C products and solutions ( including Fisher valves & regulators,
  • Rosemount transmitters, vibration sensors, I2P’s, DVC’s, VFD’s, DeltaV systems)
  • Provide telephone customer support on E&C products and solutions
  • Build lasting relationships with Internal and external customers

Qualifications and Skills

  • Technologist diploma (Instrumentation, Electronics) (C.E.T. eligibility with ASET) or Bachelors degree in Engineering (Software / Chemical / Mechanical / Electronics / Electrical) (E.I.T or P.Eng eligibility with APEGA)
  • Process control system design experience including analytical, PLC, DCS, pneumatic systems and pre-fabricated building systems, is considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with the fabrication lifecycle of manufactured assemblies and integration of these components into a complete solution, is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, standards and practices an asset
  • SAP PS module experience is an asset
  • Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced team environment and work to customer deadlines.
  • Strong negotiating skills; exceptional verbal and written communication
  • Extensive and exceptional customer service practices
  • Spatial aptitude paired with software experience.
  • Strong team player and customer oriented
  • Safety conscious and able to complete applicable safety training (e.g. H2S Alive, CSTS, First Aid, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel; valid Class 5 driver license required
