About the role

The Surrey Police Board recognizes that our work takes place on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish People.

Established in 2020, the Surrey Police Board is an independent body from both City Council and the provincial government, providing civilian oversight to Surrey Police Service. Surrey Police Service is Surrey's new municipal police agency, that has responsibility for policing and law enforcement in Surrey.

Scope

Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director is responsible for strategic and administrative leadership that enables the implementation of the Board's priorities with appropriate governance and oversight. The Executive Director is the Board's trusted advisor and strategist. The Executive Director works with the Chief Constable as needed to facilitate the advancement of the Board's objectives.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a senior leadership position in the public sector. The position requires an inclusive, collaborative, and strategic leader who understands the issues affecting board governance in the public sector, including strategic planning and developing policies. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated leadership supporting a board and organization, preferably within a justice or policing system. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Applicants will be required to obtain and maintain police security clearance.

The salary range for this position is $153,486 to $180,572; the salary will be adjusted pending the 2025 and 2026 general updates. Total compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, career training and development opportunities, and access to a wide range of health and wellness programs designed to ensure employees are cared for and supported.
