The IT Delivery Specialist is a part of the IT Infrastructure Delivery team, serving as the primary IT contact for Canfor office, mill, and facility managers. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure and services at Canfor sites in the Kootenay region and beyond, as needed.

S/he deploys technology to support manufacturing operations, defines site-specific requirements, coordinates implementation schedules, and ensures production readiness. This role requires strong collaboration with service desk, technical operations, and solutions teams to deliver effective solutions and resolve incidents promptly.

A day in the life of an IT Delivery Specialist includes:

Planning & Design

  • Identify and document site infrastructure needs, including technical recommendations and implementation timelines.
  • Develop detailed project plans with estimates, resource allocation, and schedules.
  • Plan and deploy IT infrastructure tailored to site needs while adhering to standards.
  • Consult vendors to evaluate solutions and estimate costs.
  • Stage, test, and validate solutions before deployment.
  • Implement and enforce network security measures and policies.
  • Contribute to IT standards, policies, and procedures.

Implementation

  • Ensure timely, scope-aligned delivery of equipment and services; oversee third-party vendors.
  • Maintain project plans, manage risks, and escalate issues per Canfor methodologies.
  • Validate and process vendor invoices.
  • Document configurations and provide training for new or updated systems.
  • Follow IT policies for production, maintenance, and change management.

Operations

  • Monitor service desk tickets to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain and repair PC, server, and network hardware.
  • Keep site diagrams and monitoring systems up to date.
  • Ensure disaster recovery systems are maintained and tested.
  • Enforce IT, cyber, and physical security protocols.

For this role, you’ll come equipped with:

  • 7+ years in IT service delivery, technical operations, or networking.
  • 2+ years in infrastructure planning and support across multi-site networks.
  • Proven track record in large-scale infrastructure project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of PC/server hardware, Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2012+, Active Directory, and enterprise networks (MPLS, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with ITSM processes and troubleshooting.
  • Skilled at translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently under pressure.
  • Flexible to work evenings/weekends and in industrial environments.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and appropriate automobile insurance required.
  • Able to work in varied environments (e.g., ladders, rooftops, crawl spaces, all weather) while maintaining safety requirements.
  • Capable of lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs; assist with up to 200 lbs.
  • Comfortable with physical tasks (e.g., bending, climbing, kneeling, typing, driving).
  • Able and willing to travel to locations in Canada and the US if the need arises.

The salary range for this position is: $69,000.00-$86,000.00
