Nurse Educator, Veterans Care Program - 1 position

Temporary Full Time
Salary Range: $40.50 - $57.81 /hour
Temporary position anticipated to extend until February 1, 2027, subject to the availability of work
Full time applicants will be considered
The Veterans Care Program requires a Nurse Educator to support resident focused care within a shared leadership environment. The Nurse Educator will have an integral role in staff development and practice excellence by providing expertise in gerontological clinical practice, with a focus on mental health and dementia, facilitating clinical problem solving, and role modeling effective interpersonal relationship skills. The Nurse Educator will provide educational support (including orientation and ongoing education) to staff, students and residents, as well as support program development, research and quality initiatives and change management. The Nurse Educator will also support pre-admission assessments.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field
- Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in gerontology, dementia care or mental health
- Demonstrated understanding of Adult Learning Principles, excellence in assessing learning needs and in the design and delivery of diverse learning strategies addressing multiple learning styles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience providing effective, outcome focused coaching to individuals and groups (e.g. experience as a preceptor)
- Demonstrates expert critical thinking and problem solving
- Strong organizational, consultation and negotiation skills
- Evidence of continuous learning and use of literature in clinical practice
- Demonstrated computer skills including excel, word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience in supporting colleagues to manage change effectively
- Excellence in managing multiple projects
- Proven leadership abilities, initiative and self-directedness
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience
- Previous One Chart experience
- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- CNA Psychiatric or Gerontological Nursing Specialization Certificate
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Instructor
Teaching and Research

Immunization Requirements
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
