Starting Rate: $27.55 hourly
Salary Range: $27.55 - $30.00 hourly
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Classification: CUPE Outside, Class 5
Status: Permanent full-time

The Opportunity:
The Road Patrol Person is responsible for activating and monitoring road maintenance contracts and ensuring
compliance with the specifications of those contracts for assigned District roads.
What you will do:
• Activates, monitors and records all winter road maintenance activities performed by contractors on
assigned District roads through the routine road patrol program including 24/7 night and weekend patrol
shifts as scheduled.

Inspects assigned road maintenance contracts including grade-all ditching and mechanical brushing.

Conducts the annual spring bridge cleaning program.

Identifies and resolves safety issues in the field.
-
Coordinates the activities of assigned summer students.

Oversees the daily field operations of assigned summer hired equipment for road maintenance contract(s)
and including traffic control and record keeping as required.
- Responds to emergency situations, road closures, or reports of dead animals or trees down across
roadways, etc., caused by weather conditions, traffic accidents, etc.

Works with OPP and responds to call-outs on off-shifts and weekends as required.

Provides testimony in examinations for discovery in liability claims.

Work safely and in compliance with relevant statutes and regulations and within the safe work procedures
and directives as established by the District.
- Undertakes related duties as assigned.
What you will need:
• Minimum Grade 12 education with 2 to 3 years of related experience.

Familiar with survey instruments and grade control.
-
Successful completion of Ontario Good Roads Association snow school course and chainsaw operator’s
course.
- Must hold a valid Ontario driver’s license.
