Role description:
Arcadis is currently seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist. This position will integrate into a well-developed team of environmental engineers and scientists to provide technical support. The successful candidate will mentor junior and intermediate staff strongly focused on high quality of work, innovation, efficiency and productive client relationships.
Role accountabilities:
In this role, you will provide technical expertise to support ongoing Arcadis pursuits and environmental projects across various sectors, including mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, brownfields, and industrial redevelopment, as well as utility and power sectors. A key responsibility will be mentoring and providing oversight to junior and intermediate staff, ensuring they effectively carry out technical tasks and field programs. These tasks may include contaminated site investigations, feasibility studies, remediation design and implementation, hydrogeological studies, and monitoring programs. Your technical knowledge will be essential for managing large and complex environmental projects, particularly with regards to permitting and compliance issues.
You will be responsible for preparing reports, work plans, specifications, and proposals, as well as technical budgets, ensuring the technical accuracy of deliverables through quality assurance and quality control processes. Supporting the practice area involves collaborating with senior-level staff across Canada and the US to provide integrated services to current and prospective clients, while actively participating in local, national, and international collaborative opportunities.
In addition, you will engage in business development activities, maintaining positive and long-term professional relationships with client contacts, contractors, engineering consultants, and external agencies. Your contributions will also extend to ongoing technical knowledge and innovation initiatives within Arcadis. Lastly, you are expected to support Arcadis' quality, health and safety, and performance management systems.
Key Attributes/Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience in conducting groundwater and contaminant hydrogeological assessments; feasibility studies; effective use of computer model applications; design and implementation of remediation programs and risk mitigation systems including for pump and treat; vapour extraction, chemical oxidation, etc.
- Knowledge and experience in environmental compliance and associated guidelines/legislation for provincial and federal requirements.
- Knowledge and experience working for clients in industrial, development and federal sectors.
- A proven ability to design and implement field programs; analyze data, write reports, provide quality control and assurance and present results to Clients;
- Excellence in communication and collaboration skills that facilitate detailed planning, timely decision-making and efficient implementation;
- Keen understanding and experience in working within a Behavior Based Safety System including development and use of Job Safety Analyses and performance of Job Observations;
- Valid driver’s license required;
- Willing to travel to project sites and meetings as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10 plus years of professional experience preferred;
- Numerical groundwater modelling experience is considered an asset;
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in hydrogeological sciences or related Engineering discipline;
- Registered as a practicing member of the Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (P.Geo.) or Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.) Ability to register in other Canadian provinces and territories is desirable.

The salary range for this position is $95,000-137,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
