We are currently seeking a permanent part time (0.47 FTE) Community Mental Health Worker 1 to join the Mental Health and Substance Use Access Central team based out of the Kelowna Community Health & Services centre in Kelowna, B.C.

Who are we looking for?
A successful candidate will have experience in diverse mental health issues and be able to support the recovery process for those experiencing ongoing Mental Health concerns at a moderate to sever level, affecting ability to function.
The successful candidate will have working knowledge of mental health issues and treatment in the assigned client population(s); working knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness in the assigned client population(s); working knowledge of community, social and health resources and needs to be able to have the ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, and use non-violent crisis intervention techniques and to establish and maintain rapport with clients with a culturally diverse population.
What will you work on?
The Community Mental Health Worker supports Access Central, which is a new regional virtual service delivered by a centralized interdisciplinary team based in Kelowna. These positions will support a centralized, regional, coordinated access to substance use bed-based services, including treatment, transition and stabilization, and supportive recovery.
The Community Mental Health Worker 1 functions as part of an integrated multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Team and performs a variety of life skills and general support duties involving clients who are living in their own housing. Reporting to the HCIS Manager or designate, and in accordance with established treatment plans, this position provides services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework for the assigned client population(s) with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders. Provides support to clients in the development and maintenance of the skills required to live successfully in their own homes. The Community Mental Health Worker 1 is expected to engage clients in various community settings as people with full potential and as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation.
Scheduling Information:
Shift types are days and shift times are from 09:00 to 17:00 hours.

Education, Training and Experience:

Grade 12
-
Certificate in a field relevant to the position (such as, Community Mental Health Certificate, Human Service Worker Certificate, Social Services Worker Certificate, etc.)

One year recent related experience working with the assigned client population(s) experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Food Safe certificate required.

Current valid B.C. Driver’s License.
