Communications Assistant
Are you looking to launch your career in Communications? We're seeking a highly motivated, entry-level Communications Assistant to join our global Communications team. In this foundational role, you’ll provide essential support across a variety of projects that shape Blue Ant Media’s communications strategy.
Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who’s eager to learn, thrives in a collaborative environment, and brings strong written and verbal communication skills to the table. This role will report into the Senior Communications Manager, Canada and is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance at our head office in Toronto for a minimum of three (3) days per week.
Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee Viewer Relations correspondence via email, telephone, social media platforms and Canadian regulatory bodies; executing and distributing monthly reports to internal stakeholders
- Daily media monitoring of press clippings across the organization; executing and distributing reports to internal stakeholders, in partnership with publicity leads
- Support publicity teams with the creation of media kits and press materials, while assisting on press junkets, set visits and talent travel with coordination support
- Updating media contacts to internal databases, curating media lists for various company-wide announcements
- In partnership with the department’s publicity leads, provide general support on award submissions and budget tracking for the various business units
- Work closely with key stakeholders in both the Communications and HR departments to execute tactics in support of internal communications including town halls and special meetings/events or presentations
- Provide communication support on the curation of content on our company’s intranet service, in collaboration with Human Resources
- Coordinate with publicity teams on the delivery of social media assets and news for our corporate social media accounts; oversee a content calendar to support postings
- Process invoices and purchase orders for the Communications department. Manage the department credit card by tracking purchases, payments and invoices
- Provide general administrative support to Blue Ant’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations or similar discipline is preferred
- Impeccable writing ability, exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- A team player, who is collaborative, positive and a supportive colleague
- An ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with good judgment
- The ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, and work proactively in a fast-paced, high volume, creative and deadline-oriented environment with the ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround
- Experience working with media monitoring tools and social media management is considered an asset for this role
