Job Summary
Under supervision of the Clerical Supervisor 13, this position performs moderately complex secretarial and clerical duties.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Types, formats and processes a variety of Departmental correspondence, tenders, manuals and reports, including reports for submission to City Council and its subcommittees, from written copy and electronic sources using appropriate business English.
- Receives and processes payments for various Department revenues and balances and deposits receipts. Prepares and processes a variety of forms and documents.
- Screens in-person and telephone enquiries and determines appropriate initial action.
- Enters data into database systems and spreadsheets, ensures the integrity of the data, and produces reports.
- Uses effective customer service techniques in the performance of all duties.
- Prioritizes duties and responsibilities to meet established guidelines and timelines.
- Acts as secretary for meetings by arranging meetings, preparing agendas, and taking and transcribing minutes, as required.
- Assists with records management, manual and automated, for the Department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Eduaction, Training and Experience Requirements

Grade 12 education.

Graduation from a business college.

Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.

Three years' diversified and progressively responsible office experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Thorough knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to process cash transactions according to acceptable cash handling practices.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established parameters.
- Ability to take and transcribe minutes rapidly and accurately.
- Demonstrated skill in the operation of a computer using MS Word and Excel.
Requires Security Check
Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.
Weekly Hours: 36.67
Salary Range: $57,082.80 to $62,933.28 CAD per annum (2025 rates)
