Position Summary :
Reporting to the Manager of Business Intelligence & Data Integration, the Business Intelligence Developer will focus on building and maintaining the data infrastructure that enables actionable insights to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and decision-making. The Business Intelligence Developer (BI Developer) will be responsible for designing and implementing data pipelines, developing and optimizing data models, and ensuring the integrity, availability, and structure of healthcare data across the Waterloo Regional Health Network.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in healthcare data integration, data pipeline development, and data modeling techniques, with a strong understanding of healthcare systems, regulations, and data governance.
Position Requirements & Responsibilities:
- Candidate must reside in Ontario
- Master’s degree in health informatics, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience with data analysis in a healthcare setting
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Power BI or Microsoft Fabric
- Proficient in SQL and Python
- Solid understanding of relational database structure and design
- Strong proficiency in data modeling techniques, statistical analysis, and data visualization
- Experience with healthcare data standards and systems (eg. Coding, OHRS, Cerner, etc)
- Proficient in analyzing large, complex healthcare datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support organizational objectives and improve patient care.
- Proven ability in collaborating with cross-functional teams including healthcare providers, IT, and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to clearly define projects, objectives, goals, assignments, etc.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience using Cerner reporting tools (DA2, CCL, SAP BO)
- Practical knowledge of Tableau
- Experience with Cloud platforms
