Penn-co Construction, a leading construction company, is seeking skilled Carpenters and Skilled Construction Labourers to join our team for projects inremote northern locations.

Carpenter Job Duties

• Build and/or assemble concrete forms and place concrete using rakes, screeds, and trowels

• Framing, including walls, doors, and windows

• Exterior finishing including siding, fascia, and soffit

• Place and tie rebar

• Operate hand and power tools

• Lead and mentor co-workers

• All other carpentry duties as required and assigned by supervisor

Skilled Construction Labourer Duties

• Clean and perform preparation of job sites including setting up scaffolding

• Build and/or assemble concrete forms and place concrete using rakes, screeds, and trowels

• Place and tie reinforcing steel

• Basic framing, including walls, doors, and windows

• Insulation

• Measure and cut material

• Basic equipment operation

• Handle and transport job materials to the work areas

• Operate hand and power tools

• Provide assistance to craft workers

• All other labour duties as required and assigned by supervisor

Carpenter Requirements

• Red Seal preferred; however, experience is highly valued

• Must be able to pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to lead a team

• Ability to read building specifications and blueprints

• Mathematical skills

• The care and effort required to maintain quality workmanship, minimize deficiencies and maintain Penn-co’s reputation in the industry

• An understanding of safe work practices

• Experience working in or with Indigenous communities; cultural awareness and respect are essential

Skilled Construction Labourer Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in the commercial and/or industrial construction industry preferred

• Excellent attitude, communication and teamwork skills, flexible, and open to change

• Ability to determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job

• An understanding of safe work practices

• The strength, stamina, and ability to use proper lifting techniques to lift and carry items weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Good muscular coordination, agility and balance

• A basic understanding of drawings

Rotation Schedule

Must be willing and able to travel to remote project locations. Rotational schedules may include:

• 10 days on, 4 days off

• 15 days on, 6 days off

• 21 days on, 7 days off

Working Conditions

• Outdoor conditions that may include heat, dust, cold, rain, and noise

• Physically strenuous work

• Working at heights
