We are seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join our team. Please note that this position is based in Labrador West. This position is not eligible for Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) arrangements. This position will be reporting to the Manager of Environment and Tailings Compliance and is a 5/2 8hr day onsite position.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist Technicians with compliance monitoring programs (e.g., air, effluent sampling, hazardous waste, wildlife) as stipulated in regulatory approvals for Area Operations.

  • Weekly updates regarding ongoing programs
  • Tracking program progress and updating/ reviewing reports accordingly
  • Review SOPs with technicians annually, update with recommendations from operating areas.

Coordinate reporting to ensure regulatory, corporate, and other external requirements meet CoA approvals

  • Track various reporting deadlines, permit applications and submission to government agencies
  • Coordinate one off projects with contractors and other operating areas
  • Assist with CoA approval applications
  • Coordinate and track third party review for ongoing air emission programs, Dam Safety Review, TSM/Sustainability reporting

Assist Environmental Team with document control. Enter requisitions, track open PO information, prepare and track change orders, filing reports, proposals, directives, regulations in Sharepoint.

  • Coordinate and track project activities with consultants, technicians and operating areas
  • Review and file daily inspections/daily field notes to ensure compliance with the applicable guidelines.
  • Locate regulatory and site information for other operating areas

Attend regulating agency meetings onsite, public facing engagements/ consultations relating to ENV projects, industry conferences etc.

  • Facilitate weekly training/in person onboarding orientation.
  • Develop and update presentations
  • Attend and help prepare public facing meetings/conferences with ENV Manager

Participate in compliance audits, review environmental incident investigations weekly, and track corrective actions for completion in Safety Culture.

  • Participate in weekly Risk Management and Incident Review meetings with ENV Manager.
  • Proactively participate in and help lead site safety initiatives with the ENV Team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Environmental Studies BSc. OR
  • Env Technology with 3-5 years equivalent on job related experience
  • Technical reporting, regulatory reporting experience
  • Proactively monitor, review and resolve environmental and regulatory issues
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrates ability to supervise and build relationships with employees, contractors, and consultants.
  • Excellent, work ethic, and work task reliability
