About the INTREPID Lab: The INTREPID Lab is a hub for research and health services programing on nicotine addiction. Our goal is to synthesize and discover new knowledge in the treatment of nicotine addiction, validate technology-mediated methods and processes for delivering treatment and use these methods to scale up research discoveries to health services programs through our network of over 350 primary- and community-care partner organizations. In meeting its objectives, the INTREPID Lab works with technology vendors, in addition to creating its own technology-based methods and protocols, for research and subsequent integration into health services programs.

Position Description:

The INTREPID Lab at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Analyst to support a variety of nicotine/tobacco cessation projects. Primarily, this position will involve work with the INTREPID Lab’s Quality Assurance team, as well as supporting the STOP Program.

Reporting to the Manager, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following activities to support the implementation of INTREPID’s research studies and programs:

  • Reviewing and implementing INTREPID program and research-specific SOPs
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with existing SOPs and other CAMH mandatory policies/training programs for all INTREPID staff
  • Providing administrative support to the INTREPID Lab’s Research Quality Assurance (QA) group, including coordination and management of QA initiatives
  • Communicating relevant CAMH research-related updates to the INTREPID team
  • Collecting data from program participants by conducting follow-up assessments and interviews over the phone and in-person
  • Assisting with research study and program communications, including the preparation of reports and presentations
  • Working with online data platforms (e.g., REDCap) to monitor data flows and user access
  • Various administrative duties including processing nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) orders and responding to participant inquiries

The successful candidate will have proven experience supporting large-scale smoking cessation or related programs, as well as responding to rapidly-evolving project plans and priorities. Other duties include participating in planning meetings, updating website content, and providing support to other team members. You will also be responsible for administrative duties pertaining to the study, such as ensuring research records are maintained, securely stored, and backed up appropriately.

This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree with a background in health or social sciences plus 1-year relevant research experience. Previous experience supporting large-scale programs, online data management systems and technology vendors is preferred.

Key qualifications include:

  • Superior interpersonal and communication (oral/written) skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and a determined attitude towards ensuring accuracy and integrity
  • Strong knowledge translation, dissemination and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into a variety of engaging formats for diverse audience groups
  • A high degree of proficiency in navigating workflows in computerized platforms is required
  • Strong working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and social media platforms
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment, with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset
