Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.
Peace Wapiti Public School Division's Transportation Department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of more than 170 school buses and vehicles within the Division. The successful candidate must be willing to work both independently as well as in a team environment and have good communication skills. Must be able to work over-time when required.
The Transportation Department is seeking a Full Time Licensed Journeyman Automotive or Heavy Duty Mechanic to work out of the Spirit River Bus Shop. Applications Should Include

Salary is commensurate with education/training and experience. The Journeyman Wage effective September 1, 2025 is $43.10/hour to $44.91/hour (based upon years of experience).

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 5,800 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in 36 schools, including nine Hutterite colony schools, two outreach schools, an online school, and educational programming at a group home facility.
The system provides schooling for students from Horse Lake First Nation and Kelly Lake Indigenous Community. Excluding the colony schools, the smallest school has an enrollment of 34 students and the largest has 623 students. Alternative Education provides flexible programming to 95 students. In the smaller and more rural high schools, some reliance is placed on distance education programs to augment the basic in-school offerings. Specialty programs exist to meet local needs.
PWPSD employs the full-time equivalent of 375 teachers and 600 non-teaching staff, in addition to a number of part-time and casual personnel. The Transportation Department manages 100 bus routes.
