Operations Communications Specialist

Job Summary
The Operations Communications Specialist, reporting to the Manager, Systems Operations Control, is the communications focal point in the System Operations Control Centre (SOCC). Under the Supervision of the Duty Officer, they are responsible for the timely dissemination of clear and concise operational information across both the organization and to external stakeholders. In the absence of the Duty Officer, the Operations Communications Specialist is responsible for overseeing all flight and ground operations while maintaining the accurate state of the flight schedule, with considerations to industry regulations, meteorological conditions, technical operations, and load planning.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintaining the integrity of Porter’s flight schedule and aircraft movement data Evaluating schedule outcomes, including contingency planning and recovery of the flight schedule Proposing and executing decisions to improve on-time performance (OTP) and schedule completion rate (SCR) Management and oversight of internal communication tools and timely dissemination of Operations Bulletins related to flight schedule changes and irregular operations (IROPS) Ensuring the timely dissemination of pertinent information to all departments impacted by aircraft swaps, flight delays, cancellations and any pertinent details that may affect the operation Coordinating aircraft assignments and positioning while ensuring the movements comply with MEL, corporate and maintenance requirements Maintaining a thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures, Transport Canada regulations and other domestic and international regulatory requirements Monitor and respond to all aircraft service requests using multiple forms of communication Initiate and coordinate Porter’s Emergency Response including non-emergency incident response and other critical communications through the Everbridge® Mass Notification system Actively participating in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy Other duties as assigned by the Manager, System Operations Control Centre or designate

Qualifications
Minimum 3 years’ airline operations experience and/or in an industry supervisory role Working knowledge of CARs 705 Decision-maker with strong planning skills and execution abilities Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral, presentation) with all levels of the organization Ability to multi-task and manage numerous priorities at once Excellent time management and organizational skills Hold a Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Certificate Working knowledge of Health and Safety practices, SMS and other relevant legislation Ability to hold and maintain all required security clearances
