How You Will Contribute You will be joining a team of hardware designers working on the design, implementation, and validation of complex printed circuit boards for next generation networking and optical platforms.
- Under the mentorship of a senior engineer, you will be accountable for co-developing the hardware design of Ciena’s flagship optical modem circuit packs.
- You will be part of evaluating and implementing circuitry supporting early versions of custom & advanced electronic and optical components not yet available to general market.
- You will ensure thorough lab validation of designs and interface robustness as part of transitioning board designs from initial prototype hardware to volume manufacturing. You’ll have access to a well-equipped lab capable of measurements from DC to 100’s Ghz
- You will oversee the detailed design and schematic capture of High-Speed Digital/Analog/Power Circuits as well as the CAD implementation of the PCB associated with the design.
- You’ll play a key role in the documentation of functional specifications, test plans and reports and participate in multidisciplinary meetings to coordinate the efforts of Signal Integrity, Mechanical, Thermal, Component, Optical, Test teams and other stakeholders.
The Must Haves
- Degree in Electrical, Optical, Computer or Engineering Physics or equivalent.
- Ability to work on site in office and lab typically 5 days a week.
Assets
- Experience designing circuit boards, preferably for telecom or a high reliability application
- Experience in board level simulation and circuit simulation methodology.
- Experience in hardware design implementing circuits involving microprocessors, ASIC’s, FPGA, memories and optical devices.
- Knowledge of high-speed design and transmission line theory.
- Knowledge of precision analog design, including development and verification of noise, precision and stability budgets
- Demonstrated use of schematic capture and layout tools such as the Cadence Allegro tool suite.
- Experience with hands on lab measurement techniques, automation scripts and test equipment.
Pay Range The annual pay range for this position is $62,000 - $99,000 CAD.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
