The Opportunity

Under the direction and leadership of the Superintendent, Northern District we are seeking a full-time permanent Pipeline Maintenance Operator to join our Pipeline Operations department in Fort St. John, BC. A Pipeline Maintenance Operator in British Columbia is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and operating natural gas or oil pipeline systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect and monitor pipelines for leaks, corrosion, pressure issues, and structural integrity
Operate and maintain pipeline equipment, including valves, pumps, compressors, and monitoring systems
Perform routine maintenance, such as filter changes, lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs
Respond to alarms, abnormal conditions, and emergencies, following safety and environmental protocol
Conduct right-of-way patrols to identify hazards such as erosion, vegetation, or third-party activity
Operate heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, trucks) when required for maintenance or repair work
Document inspections, maintenance activities, and incident reports using digital tools (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Support construction or upgrade projects, including tie-ins, hydrotesting, and commissioning
Ensure compliance with BC safety regulations, environmental standards, and Tidewater Midstream’s procedures

Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:
Five to ten years as an Operator for a pipeline gathering system facility or related industry experience.
Preference for JM Instrumentation Technician and/or JM Electrician with pipeline operations experience other industry related courses.
Excellent operational problem solving is an asset.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team along with mature judgement and responsible work habits.
Enthusiasm and commitment to the job.
Must be able to work alone with minimum supervision after training
Must be prepared to work in all types of weather
NACE corrosion certification

Class 5 driver’s license
4th class Engineer would be an asset, but not mandatory

Competencies & Attributes:
Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential

Exudes a high level of positive energy and is self-motivated, can work independently with minimal supervision and is a good team player

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Ability to read pipeline schematics, maps, and technical drawings
Knowledge of pipeline integrity, corrosion control, and pressure systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability and willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime
Has a very high regard for safety in the workplace, and has a strong commitment to operational policies and procedures

Is willing to work in all weather conditions - extreme summer heat and cold winter weather

Able to complete the physical aspects of job, heavy lifting, climbing stairs, crawling under rail cars etc.

Must pass all required courses, inclusive of H2S, First Aid Training
Criminal Record Check and Pre-employment testing
